From our fisioterapia D2 clinic, we want to inform you that prolonged use of heels can cause multiple injuries and imbalances in posture, as well as other pathologies such as osteoarthritis or arthritis in the knees, tendinitis, bunions, hammer toe, metatarsalgia, nerve conditions, possible sprains, shortening of the posterior leg muscles, that is, calves and Achilles tendinopathies.
We advise that the heel height does not exceed 5 centimeters and if using platforms, choose those with some cushioning and a height relative to the heel that does not exceed three centimeters.
For women who do not excessively use heels and usually wear them for events such as weddings and parties, it is recommended to use a wide platform shoe to better distribute the weight and not let it fall on just one point of the foot's base.
