The use of tight clothing has negative consequences for health.
Jan. 7, 2020

Poor circulation, gynecological issues, pain in the lumbar area and the hip, and respiratory alterations in the thoracic cage are just some of the health problems that people who wear very tight clothing daily may experience.

A very evident sign for us physiotherapists is to see if the patient has an excess of marks on the skin caused by bra, socks, belt of the pants or skirts, among others.....

Wearing the belt of the pants or skirts too tightly can cause pain in the lumbar area, affecting the free movement of the hip. In the long term, it can cause discomfort in other areas of the body or even produce some pathologies.

In the case of the bra, we must take into account that wearing it too tightly can cause respiratory problems by hindering the physiological movement of rib expansion and preventing proper diaphragmatic breathing.

We always recommend wearing the correct bra size; a poorly adjusted strap can activate trigger points that cause pain in the shoulder, and even in the hands and fingers.

Regarding digestion, it can affect poor digestion by promoting gastric reflux, causing a sensation of acidity.

As for socks, stockings, or shoes that are too tight, they can cause a decrease in blood circulation and lymphatic system, leading to swelling and a sensation of tired legs.
